We are pleased to welcome Muneera Gardezi as Policy Advocate.  She brings a wealth of experience and considerable advocacy skill to the campaigns and projects that she will be advancing at Nourish California.

Muneera will be responsible for the day-to-day activities of the #Food4All campaign and be the point person for our broad coalition of partners.  She will take a lead role in the work around “public charge” and support work to address barriers to accessing the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC). Muneera will also focus on the intersection of our mission and climate change, with a particular interest in the impacts of climate-driven disasters on Californians with low income.

Prior to joining Nourish California, Muneera was a community organizer and health advocate. Her experience ranges from leadership development work in the form of curriculum building, facilitating workshops, and conducting anti-bias training to legislative advocacy.

Muneera has helped to co-lead statewide campaigns for the Health4All movement and has worked with the community to advocate for both state and local measures to expand access to care.  She has convened both statewide and local coalitions, advocated for legislation, conducted press conferences, presentations, trainings, and built out year long campaigns. She has led numerous legislative visits with policy makers across California and has mobilized with community members from the grassroots level to partake in legislative advocacy and education.

Muneera is passionate about social justice issues and is always committed to learning and growing. Outside of work she enjoys spending time with her two young children, loves to bake, and to host her friends and family.
