5.24.2012 89.3 KPCC recently aired a story about the afterschool meals that schools can now serve since funding was allocated as part of the Healthy Hunger Free Kids Act 2010. While funding for education and afterschool programming remains threatened, schools now have additional money to operate the afterschool meal program. The United States Department of Agriculture fully funds these balanced meals that students eat as they begin their afterschool enrichment activities at eligible sites.
