NFLAF Coalition signed on to letter to Governor Brown

Published on Dec 2, 2013 in CalFresh

12.2.2013 We urge the Governor to increase access to CalFresh and Health Care.

The Coalition has joined advocates across the state in asking Governor Brown to remove the hurdles households experience when having to apply separately for CalFresh and health coverage. Connecting families with both Medi-Cal and CalFresh will lead to better health, nutrition, and economic security for all Californians. This connection will help modernize government customer service and drive more federal funds to California.

This sign-on letter was circulated by the Alliance to Transform CalFresh, a coalition of advocates aligned to boost California’s low CalFresh participation rates up to 75% (the national average) by 2016.  Members are:  California Association of Food Banks, California Food Policy Advocates, California Family Resource Association, Catholic Charities of California, Western Center on Law Poverty, Los Angeles Regional Food Bank, and San Francisco and Marin Food Banks.  www.transformcalfresh.org
