CALL-IN for Food4All!

Lea este blog post en español aquí

As we get closer to Governor Newsom’s May Revision of the California State Budget, we need to call on our state’s leaders to honor and protect their commitment to the Food4All expansion— which will make food benefits available to Californians ages 55 and older, regardless of immigration status, starting October 2027. We are also calling on state lawmakers to make this expansion available to Californians of all ages so that all Californians, regardless of age or immigration status, can access the food they need and want to thrive. No exceptions, no exclusions, no delays.

On May 6, 2025, the Food4All coalition is hosting a Call-In Day to urge our state’s leaders to protect and expand food assistance for California’s immigrant communities by supporting Food4All in the budget.

Join us!

How to call (it only takes 10 minutes!)

Call these five offices:
  • Governor Gavin Newsom – (916) 445-2841
  • Senate President pro Tem Mike McGuire – (916) 651-4002
  • Senate Budget Committee Chair Scott Wiener – (916) 651-4011
  • Speaker of the Assembly Robert Rivas – (916) 319-2029
  • Assembly Budget Committee Chair Jesse Gabriel – (916) 319-2046
Use this sample script to share our urgent request:

“Hi, my name is ______ (optional: if you are calling on behalf of an organization, share the name and a line about what you do here).

I urge you to support the Food4All budget request in the May Revision of the California State Budget. We must urgently protect our state’s commitment to make food benefits available to Californians ages 55 and older, regardless of immigration status, by October 2027 and expand this benefit to all ages.

California has a responsibility to uphold its commitment to protecting immigrant families. No one in California deserves to go hungry because of where they were born. No exceptions, no exclusions, no delays. Thank you.”

While we are focusing the calls on May 6, feel free to call any day that works for you - or even more than once! The priority is to make sure that your legislators hear what is important to you.
