AB 191 Passes Assembly Human Services Committee!

Published on Apr 3, 2013 in CalFresh, State Legislation

4.3.2013 Yesterday afternoon AB 191 (Bocanegra) passed the Assembly Human Services Committee with a vote of 4-2. AB 191 seeks to improve alignment between CalFresh and Medi-Cal in order to ensure that low-income households with a Medi-Cal recipient are more likely to also receive CalFresh nutrition benefits.

A special thank you goes to our key witness Simon Rios, CalFresh Program Director at Catholic Charities Diocese of Stockton. Simona provided great insight into the positive client impact of AB 191.

In addition, we’d like to thank all the supporters present at the hearing and those that submitted letters of support in advance of the hearing. Your support is much appreciated.

AB 191 will next be heard in the Assembly Appropriations Committee. CFPA will provide more details for this hearing as they become available.
