AB 6 Passes the Assembly!

Published on Jun 1, 2011 in CalFresh, State Legislation

AB 6 icon6.1.2011 AB 6, passed the Assembly Floor on Wednesday, June 1st! AB 6 seeks to move California to a semi-annual reporting period, eliminate the finger-imaging requirement, andimplement a “Heat and Eat” program. Both semi-annual reporting and “Heat and Eat” received bipartisan support, while debate remains on the elimination of finger imaging.  Now more than ever, we need to continue advocating for these critical changes and to keep policymakers informed about what these improvements really mean for clients, administrators, and the state’s economy.

AB 6 must now make it through the Senate Committee on Human Services, the Senate Committee on Appropriations, and off the Senate Floor before heading to the Governor’s desk for his signature.  We need continued support to ensure AB 6’s successful passage through the Senate.

What Can You Do?

(1) Spread the word among community members and local advocates; AB 6 is moving and needs your continued support!

(2) Get in touch with your Senator; call or write to let them know that you’re counting on them to support AB 6!

(3) Send a letter of support to the Chair of the Senate Committee on Human Services and the Chair of the Senate Committee on Appropriations; for a sample visit CFPA’s AB 6 page.
