[Este mensaje se repetirá en español] The Governor included #Food4All in his 2022-2023 budget proposal by providing California Food Assistance Program (CFAP) nutrition benefits for Californians ages 55 and older, regardless of their immigration status The Governor’s budget proposal will be heard in the Assembly Budget Subcommittee 1 on Health and Human Services tomorrow, February 23, 2022 at 1:30pm. State budget leaders need to hear that we need full Food4All funding. We invite you to call into the hearing to make your voice heard. All public comments will be taken at the end of the hearing. You can find the livestream link, agenda, and other information here. There are 3 ways to support Food4All:  1) Submit your comment via email: If you are unable to provide your comment on the phone, you may also send your comment via email to the committee at BudgetSub1@asm.ca.gov. 2) Add your org to a list of supporters: If you are unable to provide your comment on the phone, a Food4All coalition representative will name your organization as a supporter. Please send your name, email, and organization to Muneera Gardezi at muneera@nourishca.org to be listed in support during the hearing. 3) Call in to provide public comment: Call in to show your public support. Call information below. Assembly Budget Subcommittee 1, Issue 4 Once the public comment period begins, please dial: 1-877-692-8957, Enter access code: 131 54 44 Once you are in the “virtual waiting room”, please mute your phone (this is very important!) Enter 1 then 0. You should hear a prompt that says “You are in queue”. Do not press 1 then 0 again! This will remove you from the queue. Be patient and wait until an operator joins your line. The operator will assign you a number. Write that number down and wait for the committee to announce your number. Once your number is announced, please unmute your phone and state your comment. Please try to keep your comment to 1 minute. Sample Script: Hello, My name is [name and title]with [name of organization],and  I live in [your location]. We thank the Governor for his budget allocation of CFAP nutrition benefits for immigrants 55 and over. But we strongly urge you to build on this allocation by expanding CFAP benefits to Californians of all ages regardless of immigration status. Feel free to add any one of these talking points to the end of your script:(keep in mind this should be a total of 1 minute) We are pleased about the expansion to those 55 and over but we call on state leaders to fully fund the expansion to everyone, regardless of age and immigration status. We believe everyone should have access to nutrition benefits, regardless of their age or immigration status. We ask that you continue to support Food4All by ensuring food assistance to all Californians. No exceptions. No exclusions. We support Food4All because it will mitigate hunger and poverty by ensuring that our state nutrition systems do not discriminate on the basis of immigration status. Food4All Is a permanent solution that addresses the longstanding issue of food insecurity in immigrant communities. California has the power to make CFAP more inclusive and be a model for the rest of the nation. Create your own!
