On Wednesday, June 20: Call 1-888-398-8702 and enter your zip code to be connected to your Representative.
This toll-free number is courtesy of Feeding America. Urge him/her to “Vote No” on H.R. 2. Be sure to tailor your outreach depending upon how your member voted on HR 2. Note, that Representative David Valadao (R-Hanford) is the only member of the California Congressional delegation who did not vote on HR 2. Indications are that he has concerns about the bill’s cuts to SNAP, but is feeling pressure from House Leadership to vote yes. If you live in his district, it is very important to call this week and urge him to “Vote No on HR 2.”
This member did not vote on HR 2 and is particularly important to reach out to:
- David Valadao P: (202) 225-4695 @RepDavidValadao
I’m calling (as a constituent/on behalf of my organization) to express my disappointment with the Representative’s for not voting “no” on HR 2 the first time it was up for a vote. This deeply flawed bill would take away food assistance from thousands of struggling Californians, including children, seniors, and people with disabilities right here in our community. The House bill — which was made even worse by amendments added during the floor debate — contains SNAP proposals that are harmful, unworkable, untested, and a waste of taxpayer dollars. There is a long history of bipartisan commitment to improving SNAP and ensuring that struggling families across the country have enough to eat. If the bill comes up for another vote in the House, I would like to urge the Representative to vote “no” on HR 2 and instead work on a farm bill that protects and strengthens SNAP.
These members voted “Yes” on HR 2 and need to hear from you!
