Webinar Materials – Take Another Look at CEP

Published on May 9, 2018 in Child Nutrition, School-Aged Children

The webinar recording is now available! On May 3rd, CFPA co-hosted a webinar encouraging school districts to go hunger free by adopting Community Eligibility Provision.

Recent changes in California state policy may improve your school’s eligibility for the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP), a federal option that allows high-poverty schools to offer breakfast and lunch at no cost to all students and eliminates the need to collect traditional school meal applications. We know that there are many California schools that haven’t been able to make the numbers work for CEP in past years, but new programs and policies in California suggest taking another look. This webinar will explore new opportunities to directly certify students through Medicaid/Medi-Cal, what that means for your school’s identified student percentages (ISPs), and how changes to state policy support the adoption of CEP.

This webinar featured presentations from:

    • Alison Maurice with Food Research and Action Center (FRAC)
    • Chelsey Cooper with the California Department of Education, Nutrition Services Division
    • Elyse Homel Vitale with California Food Policy Advocates
    • Jose Alvarado with Fresno Unified School District

Make sure to register for the second webinar of this series,
