We are pleased to welcome Jackie Mendelson as Graduate Student Intern. Jackie is in her second year of her Masters of Public Health Nutrition program at University of California, Berkeley, and is pursuing the interdisciplinary Graduate Certificate of Food Systems.

This Spring 2022, Jackie will support the organization’s Food4All campaign by building coalition capacity, supporting research projects, and increasing campaign visibility in social media.

Jackie brings years of direct experience with state-level food assistance programs, primarily SNAP, Double Up Food Bucks Arizona, WIC, and Farmers Market Nutrition Program benefits from her time serving as the Programs Manager for Heirloom Farmers Markets. During her time at Cal, Jackie has volunteered with the Nutrition Policy Institute to collect data about Californians experiencing food insecurity during the COVID-19 crisis, conducted a qualitative and quantitative evaluation of a program that combines health literacy and empowerment for high school youth, and facilitated equitable garden-based curriculum development for Berkeley Unified.

Jackie is passionate about policy advocacy in support of a more equitable food and nutrition system. She is very excited about bringing her professional experiences and skills to leverage policy and research in support of the Food4All campaign.
