The Food with Care Campaign is Evolving

What began as a focused effort to improve the nutritional infrastructure for providers, young learners, and families participating in the Child Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) is now growing into something broader, more inclusive, and community-driven. We have listened, learned, and reflected—and in response, we are returning to the seed of this work.

This year, we will embark on a statewide listening and learning process, building new partnerships with trusted community voices to understand how CACFP and other programs can better serve older adults, caregivers, and unhoused individuals. Through this transformation, we seek to address urgent gaps in access and awareness, particularly for unhoused older adults who are eligible for CACFP but face significant barriers to utilizing it. By centering their experiences, we aim to co-create solutions that ensure food programs meet the diverse needs of all Californians.
