Yesterday, President Trump released his FY 2020 budget proposing $220 billion in cuts to SNAP over the next 10 years. The proposed budget also includes ill-conceived proposals to time limit benefits across multiple vital safety net programs including SNAP/CalFresh, TANF/CalWORKS, Medicaid/Medi-Cal and Rental Assistance that would worsen hunger, health, and poverty for many low- and moderate-income Californians. California Food Policy Advocates, the California Association of Food Banks, and Western Center on Law and Poverty urge all members of the California Congressional Delegation to oppose cuts to SNAP and other vital programs that help lift millions of Californians out of poverty.
