Too Many CA Older Adults Go Hungry; CalFresh Can Do More To Help

Published on Oct 1, 2019 in CalFresh, Older Adults

October 1st, is International Older Adults Day, and CFPA is using the opportunity to highlight the unfortunate and growing prevalence of food insecurity among California’s low-income older adults. Feel free to share the infographic linked below with your networks to help spread the word about the need to improve seniors’ access to nutrition programs, especially CalFresh, our state’s most impactful, but underutilized program.

CalFresh helps millions of low-income American older adults afford the nutritious food they need to stay healthy and age in place with dignity. But only one in five eligible Californians over age 60 are receiving food assistance through this federally-funded program. See below and our CalFresh page to learn more about promising solutions to improve access and increase food security and well-being for older Californians struggling to make ends meet.
