7.1.2013 AB 191 is heading to the Senate Appropriations Committee in the coming weeks. CFPA will release more details regarding the hearing date and time as soon as they are available. In the meantime, please take a moment to let the Senate Appropriations Committee know that you want to see AB 191 become law!

Amendments
Amendments were taken coming out of the Senate Human Services Committee. The amendments remove language regarding the Heat and Eat program as this same language will appear in budget trailer bill. In addition, amendments were taken to clarify the intended method of implementation by the Department of Social Services. The intent of the bill remains intact.

Action Needed Before Senate Appropriations!
AB 191 was originally introduced as AB 1560 (Fuentes) in 2012. That bill was held in the Senate Appropriations Committee due to fiscal concerns. CFPA is working with the author’s office and committee staff, among others, to readdress similar concerns. The success of AB 191 depends on your timely show of support. Please let the Senate Appropriations Committee know that you want to see AB 191 become law!

There is still time to call or write the Appropriations Committee to show your support. This is especially important if you Senator holds a position on the Senate Appropriations Committee. Voice your support for AB 191 today!
