4.12.16 AB 2099 (Stone)-Safe Drinking Water passed the Assembly Committee on Environmental Safety and Toxic Materials today with unanimous, bi-partisan support on consent. Our thanks to Assemblymember Stone for championing this critical issue and to all of the bill’s supporters for lending their voices to this important cause.

Water is a human right that no one should go without. In the Central Valley-where the poverty rate is over 25%- some households devote 20% of their annual median income of $14,000 to pay for water, sanitation services and to purchase drinking water. AB 2099 intends to leverage the State’s Electronic Benefit Transfer (EBT) system to deliver interim, supplemental benefits to low-income California households without safe drinking water.

If you’d like to show your support for AB 2099 there’s still time to submit your letter. A sample letter is available. Doc
