12.02.2016 Over the past several years, CFPA has been exploring the policy factors that support access to nutritious foods for young children in the licensed family child care setting. We have launched pilots in three California counties to better understand the effects of nutrition standards.
Family child care providers in Santa Clara, San Diego, and San Joaquin counties have the opportunity to participate in study being conducted in partnership with UC San Francisco and the Nutrition Policy Institute. Family child care providers will be trained on evidence-based nutrition standards and participate in a rigorous evaluation that will measure the effect of the nutrition standards on children’s health and the provider’s budget, among other possible outcomes. Results will be available late next year and CFPA plans to work with a diverse group of family child care stakeholders to understand the policy implications.
