SB 138 Clears the Assembly Floor!

09.06.2017 SB 138 (McGuire) made it through the Assembly with unanimous, bipartisan support! Next it will head to the Senate for concurrence and then to Governor Brown’s desk. Thank you for your advocacy and support for students’ success and hunger free schools in California. We are grateful to Senator McGuire who has championed this issue and Assembly Member Lorena Gonzalez Fletcher who helped SB 138 pass off the Assembly floor this afternoon with a 62-0 vote!

SB 138 (McGuire) – Count Me In: Expand Access to School Meals, aims to enroll more than 650,000 students directly into school meals through Medi-Cal Direct Certification, which will enable schools to make meals available free of charge to all students through a universal meal provision.
