This week, our state legislators confirmed what we already know: California should feed our low-income students no matter how young they are or what grade they are in. AB 842 passed off the Senate floor with a unanimous vote of support and now heads to Governor Newsom – the last and biggest hurdle on this long road to giving our youngest learners equitable access to meals.
What’s Next:
Governor Newsom has until the end of September to sign or veto bills. He can act on AB 842 at any time, so let’s raise our voices now! Here is how you can help:

Hello. My name is _. I live in _, CA. I am calling to ask Governor Newsom to sign AB 842 by Assemblymember Limón. AB 842 would give low-income children attending preschool or child care at a California public school guaranteed access to a meal. I believe that all children living in poverty and attending a California public school deserve nutritious meals, no matter how old they are or what grade they are in. Thank you.
