Last week, the California Legislature approved a multi-billion dollar budget that, unfortunately, does not include any funding for SB 499‘s California Grown for Healthy Kids Program. We are disappointed, but working closely with the bill author, Senator McGuire, to figure out a path forward this year to continue supporting hunger-free schools –– where breakfast and lunch are free for all students.

We are so appreciative of your support, which has helped SB 499 pass smoothly through the Senate. Stay tuned for updates and action alerts as SB 499 heads into the Assembly Education Committee next month.
