New Analysis: Summer Hunger in CA

Today, CFPA released an analysis that confirms a persistent gap in children’s access to nutritious meals.

Nearly two million children across California live in poverty: their families struggle to meet basic needs such as food, housing, and healthcare. When school is out, many children lose access to a critical source of nutritious, affordable meals. The loss of school meals, especially for children living in poverty, can increase the risk of hunger and food insecurity. The federal summer meal programs exist to nourish children during breaks from school. This analysis examines how well those programs meet the needs of children across California.
