New Online Toolkit to Promote School Meals in CA

Published on Apr 26, 2013 in Child Nutrition, School-Aged Children

4.26.2013 School Food Services now have a great new resources available to help them promote their program – an online “Outreach Toolkit”! The California Professional Nutrition Education and Training (Cal-Pro NET) Center at San Jose State University developed this comprehensive online resource for schools to use to help them market and promote their food programs and all the great recent updates they have made.

School Food Services can find resources specifically developed to target audiences like parents, students, or teachers. The online toolkit also contains promotional materials and tips for working with traditional media and social media. Schools can learn and see examples from their peers in other districts who have already developed marketing and outreach best practices.

Many districts across California have successfully adapted their menus and meal programs to meet the new requirements and the needs of their students. This important resource will help School Food Services highlight these important changes and updates to their communities.

California Food Policy Advocates is very pleased to have participated in the Advisory Board that provided input on the development of the online toolkit.
