5.31.2016 Progress! Thanks to your support, AB 2054 (Thurmond) passed out of the Assembly Appropriations Committee with unanimous bipartisan support. This week, the bill heads to a full vote of the Assembly.
Let’s make sure they make the right decision!
AB 2054 (Thurmond) will help fight hunger by preparing California to implement federally funded Summer EBT for Children (SEBTC). SEBTC is proven to prevent food insecurity by providing nutrition assistance for the purchase of groceries when school is out of session and children lose access to school meals.
Here are few ways you can help.
1) Send a Floor Alert: As AB 2054 heads to the Assembly floor, we need your help to contact every member of the Assembly about this important legislation. Below is a sample floor alert that is ready for you to personalize. Please email or fax a copy to your Assemblymember and encourage his/her “aye” vote. Please share the sample floor alert with your partners!

2) Make a Phone Call: Make quick and easy call to your Assemblymember to express your support for AB 2054. A sample script is below.
“Hi, my name is ________. I live in [city], California. I’m calling to ask Assemblymember [your Assemblymember’s last name] to support AB 2054, the Summer EBT for Children bill. AB 2054 will be heard on the Assembly Floor this week. The Assemblymember’s “aye” vote will help fight child hunger and bring federal dollars back to California communities. Thank you.”
