Nourish California’s Director of Policy, Jared Call, concluded his tenure with Nourish California on December 31, 2024. The Nourish California team wants to acknowledge and celebrate his nearly 10 years of service to our mission.
Jared began his career with California Food Policy Advocates (as we were called then) as the Managing Advocate in our Los Angeles office (back when we all worked in offices). He thrived at CFPA and in Los Angeles, launching a number of CalFresh initiatives, including his signature achievement: the establishment of special rules and processes to more easily enroll older Californians in CalFresh.
Just before the pandemic, Jared made two big moves—relocating from Los Angeles to the Bay Area and stepping into the role of leading our state legislative agenda. Moving closer to the Capitol gave him the opportunity to successfully shepherd legislation through the state process. As our organization evolved into Nourish California and deepened its focus on community-centered advocacy campaigns, Jared worked with campaign leaders to connect partners throughout the state with opportunities to engage in advocacy.
