2.22.2016 It’s time to tell California leaders that all children deserve year-round access to nutritious food. Summer is an especially vulnerable time for low-income children. When school is out, kids lose access to essential resources like healthy, affordable school meals. AB 2054 (Thurmond) will fight child hunger by preparing California to implement Summer EBT for Children (SEBTC). A rigorous evaluation of federally funded SEBTC models in others states shows that this approach prevents food insecurity and improves the quality of children’s diets.
