Become a COVID-19 Spokesperson!

Published on Apr 20, 2020

The COVID-19 crisis is increasing the need for food assistance and other resources across California. Reporters and legislative staff continue to ask CFPA about the challenges Californians experience in accessing the food they need. Our staff works to share existing problems and outline solutions, but our voices are not the most important. Members of the media and government leaders need to hear directly from local community members and individuals affected by hunger and other hardships. If you are interested and able, we’d like to help connect you to the media and policymakers to share your experiences and ideas.

Spokespeople can be…

  • Community members of different backgrounds who are willing to speak publicly with policymakers and/or the press about how COVID-19 is impacting their lives or the lives of others in their community.
  • Current program participants, program staff, community members, or researchers who have direct experience with SNAP/CalFresh, WIC, school meals, or child care meals.
  • Individuals who want to help write op-eds and letters to the editor.
  • English or Spanish speakers.
  • Personal stories are powerful tools for driving change, but we’ll never share your input or personal information without your permission. Your personal information is private and confidential.

Thank you for your interest in becoming a spokesperson. After completing the above form, we will contact you if… we hear from members of the media or elected officials who want to connect with someone who has your background and experience; or we learn of media opportunities such as helping to write op-eds or letters to the editor.
