The Dignity and Necessity of Bodily Autonomy

Published on Jun 30, 2022 in Federal Advocacy

Nourish California stands firmly with all who are fighting for their rights to bodily autonomy and choice. The U.S. Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v. Wade and strike down the constitutional right to abortion is rooted in the long-standing oppression of race, gender, and reproductive rights.

All people deserve the right to determine the best choices for themselves and their families. All people deserve access to comprehensive health care, including access to safe abortions. People who are pregnant have the right to decide if, when, and how they want to give birth. Stripping people of this autonomy perpetuates hunger and poverty, and takes away a fundamental human right.

Countless personal stories and extensive research, show that access to abortion is foundational to the health and well being of individuals and their families. Restricting access to abortion disproportionately harms Black women and other women of color, immigrants, and LGBTQ, Intersex, and Gender Nonconfirming people who have inequitable access to basic resources, including health care.

We stand for reproductive rights as human rights.

We stand for the self-determination of all pregnant people.

Please join us and consider supporting the following organizations fighting fiercely for reproductive justice, access to safe abortions, and the fundamental rights of all pregnant people.

If you are able to and feel safe joining a local direct action, you can find more information at https://map.wewontgoback.com/
