Although most federal nutrition program funding is mandatory and does not need to be annually appropriated, discretionary spending is needed for some federal nutrition programs and initiatives. Nourish California and our partners are calling on congress and the Biden Administration to allocate robust discretionary funding for our nation's federal nutrition programs and to make significant investments through additional policy windows, including the infrastructure package and child nutrition reauthorization.
