State Water Board Encourages Schools to Test Drinking Water for Lead
12.19.2016 The Division of Drinking Water (DDW) will issue an amended permit to all community water systems currently serving a school on December 20, 2016. Pursuant to the amended permit, water systems in California are required to test the schools in their service area for lead if sampling is requested by the school’s officials. 12.06.2016 Significant concerns about the quality and safety of water in schools persist. One in four schools in the Central Valley and one in three schools in the Tulare Lake region were impacted by unsafe drinking water. This correlates to other disparities, as many of these same students also suffer from some of the worst air quality in the country and other environmental health hazards.
