Published on Apr 2, 2013 in Child Nutrition, State Legislation, Young Children

4.2.2013 AB 290 (Alejo) made it out of the Assembly Human Services Committee this afternoon with a bipartisan vote of 6-0! AB 290, a bill that would add one hour to the Preventive Health and Safety training in order to educate prospective child care providers about the importance of childhood nutrition and the resources of the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP), will head to the Assembly Appropriations Committee next. Stay tuned for more information!

A big thank you to our key witness – Raquel Leon, site director at CDI Pleasant Grove Child Development Center in Elk Grove, CA.

“As teachers, it is important to know the significance of healthy eating. At the end of the day when children leave for the night it is reassuring to know they are leaving with a healthy, full tummy.” – Raquel Leon
