Efforts to support affordable, healthy food and California Agriculture made it through two more important steps this week. On Tuesday, April 17th, SB 900 (Wiener & Arambula), the California Fruit and Vegetable EBT Pilot Project bill, passed out of the Senate Committee on Agriculture with unanimous, bipartisan support on consent. And this morning, CFPA and SPUR’s related budget request was heard in the Senate Budget Subcommittee on Health and Human Services. CFPA thanks Senator Wiener, Assemblymember Arambula, and all of the bill’s supporters for continuing to push the state to support healthy food affordability and California agriculture.
Thank YOU for your support of SB 900 and the related budget request. The bill now moves on to the Senate Appropriations Committee, chaired by Senator Ricardo Lara. This is a critical time to tell state leaders to prioritize statewide solutions that make healthy food more affordable to improve the health and wellbeing of low-income Californians.
