Remove barriers. Boost benefits.
Help us reduce hunger by making it easier to enroll in CalFresh and ensuring benefits are enough for people to afford the foods they need.
CalFresh (also called the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, or SNAP) gives much-needed benefits for Californians to buy food. It helps approximately five million Californians purchase food and stretch their household budgets to meet other basic needs. But the program fails to reach nearly two million more eligible people, putting our state as one of the worst in the nation at enrolling people in CalFresh for the past few years.
We advance policies to improve CalFresh enrollment, particularly among older adults and Californians who are working but still struggle to make ends meet. We also advocate policies that increase the purchasing power of CalFresh benefits, acknowledging the true cost of nutritious food and the true cost of living in California.
